How many of us wish theyd left Dougs voice alone in this movie? (Show of hands? All of us I thought so). *sigh* Lylesburg is a name (Whats in a name?) and when youre talking monsters, does it really matter if the guy sounds German or English? I know many people whose dialects dont match their surnames. My own is Scottish/English, but I sound like a Californian. Go figure. And Lylesburg could be a last name or a first name, right? Kirsty vs. Pinhead the moment weve all been waiting for. Doug said that they couldnt seem to contact Ashley to do the movie, and he offered to call her himself. Thank God! Id waited so long for these two to meet again, it would have been such a disappointment to have someone else trying to play Kirsty. And my heavens, Ashley managed to become even more beautiful in the interim!

Enter Scott Derrickson and his delight in mixing up a linear storyline. Rick Bota is guilty of the same crime, but he manages to make it less irritating and more entertaining. I do prefer my movies to be linear, and this tendency to carve the film into puzzle pieces and then throw them in the air and film them however they land drove me a little nuts. Plus, the story is so obviously not written originally for the Hellraiser mythos. This movie had its inconsistencies, but though some have said they like it least, I still enjoy it more than Inferno. Any time-spanning film that takes in a handful of centuries is going to be quick with each one by necessity, or the movie would be six hours long. And I did like the space stuff, but I have a bone to pick with the idea of Merchants Elysium device, and Im not sure that should be capable of killing Pinhead. Ah, Hell on Earth another gem, solely for having Doug on screen more than most. But it was enjoyable for other reasons, too. I never even noticed that Pete Atkins snuck in there as the bartender who becomes Barbie the Cenobite! And of course the back-story on Elliott was a treat.

Everyone really did a fantastic job in this one, too, with playing their characters to the hilt. This may have to be called my favorite in the series. And for the first time we see more of the man behind the pins. Until that point, I was so intent on Pinhead, I paid little attention to the fact that there was someone in there playing him. =) But Elliott has always remained his own man in many ways. Doug himself said it best in an interview on the DVD Pinhead shows up for a few minutes and all those questions, the How, What, Who, When, Where, Why, are asked but never answered. This heightens the mystery and the draw to the character. Doug's acting is very good, and his character is very interesting. But the story is pitiful. The dialogues are oversimplified and filled with clich, and the story is non-existent.
